Caregiver-attended, always.

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Ready, Set, Playdate, the operator of Ready, Set, Playdate. By creating an account or using a protected feature, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Who may use the service

You must be at least 18, legally able to enter an agreement, and acting as a parent, guardian or authorized caregiver. You are responsible for accurate account information, your sign-in links, activity under your account and the authority to provide household or child-related information.

Not childcare or emergency services

Ready, Set, Playdate helps caregivers discover and coordinate family events. It does not provide childcare, custody, transportation, medical care, security services or emergency monitoring. A caregiver must remain present and responsible for every child they bring. Captains, hosts, venues and other families do not assume that responsibility. In an emergency, call 911 or the appropriate local authority.

Events, venues and third parties

Listings may describe facilitated events, caregiver-proposed community meetups or independent third-party events. Details can change because of weather, venue conditions, capacity or organizer decisions. Check the latest plan before travelling. A social RSVP does not replace registration required by an independent organizer. Third-party events, websites, venues and services are governed by their own rules, waivers, prices and privacy practices.

Family and community activities involve ordinary risks, including illness, allergy exposure, physical injury, property loss and interaction with other people. You decide whether an event is appropriate for your family and remain responsible for supervision, health needs, transportation and personal belongings.

Fees, cancellations and refunds

The current service does not process family payments in the app. A listing may identify a fee payable directly to an independent organizer or venue; their cancellation and refund rules apply. If we later offer a paid booking, we will disclose the total price, material terms and applicable cancellation or refund policy before you confirm the purchase. Nothing in these terms limits non-waivable rights under applicable consumer-protection law.

Community rules

You must not:

harass, threaten, discriminate against or endanger another person;
misrepresent identity, attendance, qualifications, venue permission or event details;
collect unauthorized fees, export member data, scrape the service or use it for unsolicited promotion;
share exact event, household, circle or safety information beyond the people for whom it was intended;
treat family symbols, circles or attendance indicators as child-security or pickup authorization systems; or
interfere with the service, bypass access controls or use it unlawfully.

Reviews must address event or Captain behaviour and must not rate a child, appearance, accent, disability or parenting style. We may remove content, cancel events, restrict assignments, suspend accounts, preserve evidence and cooperate with authorities when reasonably necessary for safety, integrity or legal compliance. Where appropriate, an in-product appeal path will be available.

Your content

You keep ownership of content you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format and display it only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service. You confirm that you have the right to submit it. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies reasonably retained in backups, safety records, audit trails or legal files.

Communications

You agree to receive essential account and operational email. SMS is optional and is sent only after you select it and provide a valid mobile number. You can change that choice in your account. We do not treat operational consent as permission for promotional messaging.

Service availability and changes

We may add, change, pause or discontinue features and may correct listing errors. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, that every listing is complete, or that another member or third party will perform as expected. We will use reasonable care in operating the service and will not exclude obligations that cannot legally be excluded.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded. Ready, Set, Playdate is not responsible for independent organizers, venues, other members, third-party websites, or losses caused by information or conduct outside our reasonable control.

To the extent permitted by law, Ready, Set, Playdate will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. Our total liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid directly to us during the 12 months before the claim and C$100. These limits do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or liability and consumer rights that cannot legally be limited.

Suspension, deletion and survival

You may stop using the service and request account deletion. We may suspend or close access for a serious or repeated breach, safety risk, legal requirement or threat to the service. Provisions that reasonably need to continue—including ownership, retained safety records, disclaimers, liability limits and dispute terms—survive account closure.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without limiting mandatory rights available where you live. Before starting a claim, contact us and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. Courts located in Ontario will have jurisdiction, subject to any non-waivable consumer right to proceed elsewhere.

General terms

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or these terms without our consent. We may assign these terms as part of a reorganization, financing or sale of the service. We may update the terms and will identify the new version; material changes may require renewed acceptance.
